Blades Face Ghost Pirates in Savannah

ESTERO, Fla. – After taking two consecutive wins over the Atlanta Gladiators the last two nights, the Florida Everblades look to go 3-0 on the weekend with a game against the Savannah Ghost Pirates. Game time from Enmarket Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. on April 6. 

The Everblades remain in fourth place in the South Division with 81 points, tied with the Orlando Solar Bears. Orlando and Florida are just one point back of South Carolina for third place in the division. With the top two teams in the division already booked for playoff hockey, these three teams will play for two postseason spots. 

Despite being eliminated from postseason contention, the Savannah Ghost Pirates have morphed into giant killers recently. Savannah is on a six-game point streak – with five wins – and recently won two games against Orlando and South Carolina each. The Ghost Pirates' 5-1 win over the Stingrays last night helped the Blades narrow the gap in the South Divison playoff race, and inch closer to third place. 

Florida will need to play well to snap Savannah’s streak. The Blades lead the season series 7-3-1. The last time these two sides played, the Everblades took 2-of-3 against the Ghost Pirates at Hertz Arena in late March.  

Saturday’s clash will be the final regular season road game of the regular season for the Florida Everblades. The team returns home next week for three games to wrap up the calendar – one against Jacksonville, and two against South Carolina.
