ESTERO, Fla. – After a much-needed week of rest following a home sweep of the Worcester Railers, the Florida Everblades are back to playing hockey this weekend. The Blades travel to Charleston, South Carolina to play three games in as many days against the Stingrays. Puck drop for game one of that series is on Friday, Mar. 1 at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum.
With the wins against the Railers, the Everblades have sprung themselves into a playoff spot with a slight buffer ahead of the Orlando Solar Bears. This upcoming series will be crucial for playoff implications, as Florida is only two points behind South Carolina for third place in the division in an ever-tightening race.
The Everblades have only played 51 games up to this point, giving them games in hand against every team in the South Division. Because of that, Friday’s matchup begins an action-packed slog of 15 games in the month of March. This dense stretch of hockey sees the Blades playing multiple mid-week matchups with no more than a three-day rest between any two games in the month.
While Florida is on a three-game winning streak, South Carolina finds itself on a two-game losing streak after back-to-back one-goal losses to the Norfolk Admirals.
