ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades are back home for the first time in March to host the Jacksonville Icemen in another crucial contest in a stacked South Division. Puck drop from Hertz Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. on Mar. 6.
Florida enters the game having lost its last two games of a three-game set against the South Carolina Stingrays. The Blades took game one of the series 5-1, but fell 5-2 and 3-2 in the final two meetings. Mark Senden scored twice in the win. Those results didn’t move Florida in the standings; the team is still in fourth place in the South Division, one point ahead of the Orlando Solar Bears.
Jacksonville recently snapped a three-game losing streak on Sunday after defeating the Orlando Solar Bears 5-1. Leading up to that game, the Icemen had lost the two previous meetings against the Bears, and a midweek matchup with the Atlanta Gladiators. In Sunday’s 5-1 win, Jacksonville forward Matheson Iacopelli netted a hat trick with three power-play goals. With 73 points, Jacksonville sits in second place in the South Division.
Wednesday’s meeting between the Everblades and Icemen will be the first of four meetings in March. The two sides will rendezvous in Duval County for a one-game meeting next week. Then, Florida hosts a two-game series at Hertz Arena on Mar. 29 and 30.
Florida has one more home game this week on Friday, Mar. 8 against the Orlando Solar Bears at 7:00 p.m.
