ESTERO, Fla. – On the heels of two consecutive 3-1 wins against the Worcester Railers, the Florida Everblades return to the ice on Feb. 24 to secure the sweep. Puck drop at Hertz Arena for the final game in the month of February is set for 7:00 p.m.
Friday’s game was a game of firsts for multiple Florida Everblades. For Evan Boucher, it was his first professional goal in his young career, finding the back of the net late in the first period. In the dying moments of the second period, with the score level at one, Cam Darcy potted his seasons first market, and sent the home crowd into a frenzy. Darcy’s goal gave the Blades a lead they would not surrender. In the crease, it was David Tendeck putting on his second incredible performance with Florida, turning aside 35 of 36 shots for his first win here at Hertz Arena.
Joe Pendenza concluded the scoring with an empty netter in the third.
Worcester’s lone goal came in the first period off the stick of Trevor Cosgrove.
With the Florida win, and an Orlando loss last night, the Everblades now has a five-point cushion in a playoff position, an important margin as the team only has divisional hockey after Saturday’s clash.
