Blades Seek Revenge Against Ghost Pirates

ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades look to bounce back into the W column against the Savannah Ghost Pirates after falling 2-1 on Friday night. Gametime against Savannah is set for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3 from EnMarket Arena. 

Friday’s loss was the fourth consecutive defeat for the Blades after falling to Jacksonville, and Greenville twice. When the skid began, it interrupted a five-game win streak that the Blades accumulated over a week and a half in January. The Blades will be eager to snap this streak in the final game in Savannah of the season. 

The Ghost Pirates bounced ahead of the Atlanta Gladiators to sixth place in the division with the win. 

Despite the defeat last night, it didn’t greatly affect the standings for Florida. Both Orlando and South Carolina took regulation losses last night, meaning the two teams ahead of the Blades didn’t gain any ground on them. In the case of the Solar Bears, they lost to the Wheeling Nailers, so no south division team improved from that win. 

Nathan Staios, who moved back up to forward for the Friday clash, netted the only Everblade goal of the night, with a snipe of a shot in the second period. That goal tied it up at one after the Ghost Pirates previously scored earlier in the period. The home side would land another goal late in the third period to take the one goal lead. 

The Everblades return to Hertz arena next week for three games against the Adirondack Thunder in cross-division action.
