Blades Host Solar Bears on Margaritaville Night

ESTERO, Fla. – Nibbling on sponge cake, watching the Blades skate. After a three-game sweep of the Adirondack Thunder, the Florida Everblades look to keep the good times rolling on Margaritaville Night against the Orlando Solar Bears. Puck drop for the Valentine’s Day meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. at Hertz Arena.

 The Orlando Solar Bears have seen an immense slide to their season standings, losing 11 of their past 13 games. The streak has lowered Orlando below the playoff line in fifth place of the south division, just one point behind the Everblades in fourth place. However, the Solar Bears just bested the Worcester Railers 3-2 on Monday night. 

Florida, as mentioned earlier, swept the North Division-leading Adirondack Thunder last week with 6-3, 4-1, and 3-1 victories. The six-point surge has flung the Blades back into the playoff spotlight with 53 points – just six points behind South Carolina in third place. 

Wednesday marks the start of a vital four-game stretch against south-division opposition. After Wednesday’s tilt against Orlando, the Everblades hit the road for one game against Jacksonville, and two games against South Carolina. With four games against three teams in a razor-thin playoff race, these games will be crucial for each team’s playoff hopes.
