ESTERO, Fla. – Back at Hertz Arena, the Florida Everblades (24-15-9, fourth in South Division) are once again hosting an opponent from the North, the Worcester Railers (22-20-6, fourth in the North Division). Puck drop from Hertz Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Worcester walks into Estero on a lengthy Florida road trip. Beginning on Monday, Feb. 12, the Railers began a three-game series against the Orlando Solar Bears that finished on Monday, Feb. 19. Orlando bested Worcester in that series 2-1, but the Railers took the third and final game on Monday night, 4-2. By the time this road trip is said and done, Worcester will have spent nearly two full weeks in the Sunshine State. The Railers enter Wednesday night’s game with a 5-4-1 record in their last ten games.
Florida returns home after a dense stretch of hockey last week that included three games in three days. The Blades went 1-1-1 in that span against Jacksonville and South Carolina, with the lone win coming on Saturday against the Stingrays. Those three games had to be played without forward Bobo Carpenter, who left the ice a week ago with a leg injury.
This will be the final game of the Everblades season against a team from outside the South Division. Florida swept the Adirondack Thunder, another North Division side, earlier this month at Hertz Arena.
