ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades took a thrilling 6-3 win over the Adirondack Thunder on Wednesday night, snapping two streaks. Firstly, Florida snapped a five-game losing streak, and notched a much-needed win. Second, the Thunder’s 17-game point streak came to an end, as the Blades defeated them in regulation for the first time in 2024. The three-game set between these two teams continues Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Hertz Arena.
The Blades fired 40 shots on net across the game and scored twice in every period to take a convincing win in front of a raucous home crowd. After the Thunder scored just 1:42 into the game, Nathan Staios tied it at one just moments later. Bobo Carpenter tallied a two-goal, one-assist evening to earn first-star honors.
Shane Harper converted two of Adirondack’s three goals for the visitors.
In net, Cam Johnson stopped 29 of the 32 shots he saw. Meanwhile, Vinnie Purpura stopped 34 of 40.
The win elevates the Everblades back into a playoff position, as Florida now sits one point above Orlando in fourth place. Greenville, Jacksonville and South Carolina are all ahead of the Blades.
