ESTERO, Fla – Continuing a lengthy road trip that has them out of the state all week, the Florida Everblades take the ice for the first time in 2024 on Wednesday, Jan. 3 against the Atlanta Gladiators. Puck drop from Gas South Arena is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday is the second of a four-game road trip. The first of those away clashes occurred on New Year’s Eve in Greenville, where Florida fell 5-4. The Blades will play the Gladiators again on Jan. 5 before returning to Greenville on Jan 6 to wrap up the road streak.
The last time Florida and Atlanta met was back on Nov. 17 and 18. In the two meetings at Hertz Arena, the Blades defeated the then division-leading Gladiators 6-2 and 3-1. Since starting the season 8-0, the Glados have fallen to 11-18, and sit in last place of the south division. That includes a 2-8 record in their last ten games.
Atlanta is led by a potent attacking duo of Mitchel Fossier and Alex Whelan. Fossier leads the Gladiators with 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) while Whelan leads the goal battle with 14.
After Friday’s game, the Blades and Gladiators will meet again on Jan. 24 at Hertz Arena.
