ESTERO, Fla. – After a lengthy road trip opened up the new year for the Florida Everblades, the team is finally back in Estero and ready to take on the first home series of 2024. Arriving at Hertz Arena are the Savannah Ghost Pirates for a three-game series. The first of those games is Wednesday, Jan. 10 with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
Florida enters the home stand after going 2-1-1 in the road streak. That record comes with two wins over the Atlanta Gladiators sandwiched between two losses to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, the second of which came in overtime. The margins of victory during the week were razor thin. Three of the games were decided by just one goal, and the other – a 5-3 win over Atlanta – was a two-goal margin. The Everblades took five of a possible eight points during the four games.
Savannah has started to heat up recently with a 3-0-1 record in its last four games. That sole overtime loss came in the Ghost Pirates' most recent game on Saturday to the Jacksonville Icemen. Despite heating up recently, the Ghost Pirates remain in sixth place in the south division, one spot behind the Everblades.
This is the second meeting of the year between the Everblades and Ghost Pirates. The first came on Dec. 22, when Florida took a 4-2 win on the road.
Wednesday marks the first of five consecutive games between Savannah and Florida. The Everblades play host on Jan. 10, 12, and 13. The two teams then travel up to Georgia for two games in Savannah on Jan. 20 and 21.
