Blades Close Rays Series on Teddy Bear Toss Night

ESTERO, Fla – After taking a 4-0 shutout win last night over the South Carolina Stingrays, the Florida Everblades shift their focus to the much-anticipated Teddy Bear Toss Night, presented by Fifth Third Bank and Bear Necessities! Puck drop for the third and final game of the series is Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Hertz Arena!

Be sure to place auction bids on the DASH auction app for tonight’s signed, game-worn uniforms. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation. 

Both teams enter Saturday’s after snapping streaks on Friday. It was a three-game skid that was exorcised with the victory for Florida. For South Carolina, a five-game win streak dissolved before a raucous Hertz Arena crowd. 

On top of Cam Johnson’s incredible 34-save shutout, a few other Blades players stepped up in big ways. Mark Senden netted a goal and an assist for a productive evening, while Cam Morrison tallied two goals – one an empty-netter – in the victory.

Friday’s shutout was the second of the year for the Everblades and the first of Cam Johnson’s campaign. The first Florida shutout came on Nov. 1 against Orlando, when Evan Cormier blanked the Solar Bears. 

After tonight’s game against South Carolina, Florida takes on Orlando next weekend with three games in three days. The first two contests will be at home, while the third matchup on Sunday will be in Central Florida.
