Blades Play Final Home Game of November Against Gladiators

ESTERO, Fla. – Now the winners of three consecutive games, the Florida Everblades look to cap off the November home schedule with a W column against the Atlanta Gladiators on Saturday, the 18^th at 7:00 p.m. at Hertz Arena. 

Florida got out to a 2-0 lead last night before Atlanta quickly tied it to head into the first intermission square at two. Then, four unanswered goals by the Everblades, two in each of the next two periods, allowed the home side to pull away with a comfortable win. 

Two of Florida’s goals, Will Reilly’s in the first and Cam Hausinger’s in the second, came on the power play. Those goals were the fourth and the fifth power-play goals of the season for the Everblades, who now move to an 11.9% conversion rate on the man advantage. 

Patrick Holway, Zach Tsekos, Oliver Chau, and Nathan Staios all scored even-strength goals for the Blades. Bobo Carpenter dished out three assists for a strong multi-point night. 

Similarly, Atlanta’s only two goals of the game were scored with an extra skater, when Jackson Pierson and Mitchell Fossier potted goals in the first period. Despite the two marks, the Everblades still have a top-10 penalty kill in the league, killing 83% of the penalties they are on. The Gladiators are also still a top-10 power-play squad. 

After starting the season 8-0, the Gladiators have now lost two in a row, The first of those came on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in a 2-1 defeat to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. 

For the third time in a row, Cam Johnson stood tall in the cage, making 23 saves on 25 shots, and shutting out Atlanta in the final 45 minutes of play. 

Saturday’s game will be the final game at Hertz Arena in the month of November. The Blades next take to the ice at home on Dec. 6 against the South Carolina Stingrays.
