ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades Professional Hockey Club announced today that Beasley Broadcasting returns to bring the excitement of Everblades hockey to listeners across Southwest Florida throughout the 2023-24 season.
Blades fans can catch the action on the Everblades Radio Network at several different frequencies on the radio dial. ESPN Southwest Florida has returned to its original frequency of 770 WBCN-AM and is also carried on 98.1 FM, 104.3 FM and 96.1 HD2.ESPN Southwest Florida is also streamed online at www.ESPNSWFL.com.
In related news, the Everblades have announced their broadcast team for the 2023-24 season. The team has brought on Will Hentschel as the Everblades broadcast intern, who joins communications coordinator and away broadcaster Jake Maurice, in addition to Mike Kelly returning to call the action at home games.
Hentschel, from Needham, Mass., joins the team after getting his bachelor’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He will assist Mike Kelly and Maurice in all broadcasting-related roles, including player interviews and managing team statistics. You can find him on episodes of Swamp Talk and the Florida Everblades Pregame Show all season! Additionally, Hentschel will provide play-by-by commentary for select Florida Jr. Everblades games.
“I can’t wait to get to work with this incredible organization,” Hentschel said. “The Everblades are proven winners on the ice, and I’m determined to provide the best possible coverage to this championship group!”
Maurice, a Winnipeg native, spent last season calling Everblades action en route to another Kelly Cup title. Alongside Hentschel, Maurice will also host Swamp Talk and The Florida Everblades Pregame Show. Living and broadcasting in Winnipeg, he has seen just about everything while wearing a headset – the most memorable moment in the booth was calling a goalie goal two years ago. He has also been a part of the Winnipeg Jets' radio team, providing out-of-town updates live during the pregame, postgame, and intermissions.
“I’m excited to be back with the ECHL’s top team,” said Maurice. “Running it back was an unforgettable experience, and I’m certain going for the threepeat will be just as thrilling. I can’t wait for the new season.”
