Everblades Acquire Cam Hausinger From Wheeling

ESTERO, Fla. – Florida Everblades General Manager and Head Coach Brad Ralph announced that the club has acquired forward Cam Hausinger from the Wheeling Nailers.

Hausinger, 24, has spent the past two seasons with the Nailers. Last year, the Anchorage, Alaska local totaled five goals and 14 assists in 23 games in Wheeling while serving as an assistant captain for his squad. He also played 10 American Hockey League games split between the Milwaukee Admirals and Iowa Wild, scoring one goal during that time. 

Cam will not be the first Hausinger brother to a Blades uniform. Christian Hausinger played seven games for Florida in the 2021-22 season – Florida was one of three clubs he suited up for that year, alongside the Wichita Thunder and Norfolk Admirals. Christian is currently playing for EC Hannover in Germany. Another Hausinger brother, Kenny, played 37 ECHL games last season split between Norfolk and Wichita.

Before turning pro in 2021-22, the 5’ 10” 192-pound winger played five seasons in the Western Hockey League, skating in 317 games with the Saskatoon Blades, Red Deer Rebels, and Kootenay Ice. 

Wheeling acquires the ECHL rights to Brandon Hickey in the trade. Hickey, 27, won the Kelly Cup with Florida last season and is currently playing for the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights.

After three road games to start the year, the Everblades’ home opener is on Saturday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. against the Jacksonville Icemen. Before the game, the back-to-back Kelly Cup Champions will send a Kelly Cup banner to the rafters for a second straight season, commemorating the club’s third title.
