ESTERO, Fla. – Florida Everblades General Manager and Head Coach Brad Ralph announced the Florida Everblades have signed defenseman Patrick Holway for the 2023-24 season.

Holway, 26, joins the Everblades after spending the past two seasons with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda. The 6’ 5” 220-pound defenseman tallied four goals and 10 assists across those two campaigns in 70 games patrolling the back end. He also played 17 games for the South Carolina Stingrays in 2021-22, scoring a goal and nabbing 12 helpers in 17 games in Charleston. He also played six games for the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2021.

Holway is a former NHL draft pick, selected in the sixth round (170th overall) by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. The Cohasset, Massachusetts local was playing for the AAA U18 Boston Advantage in the T1EHL where he had 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 28 games. He spent the next season in the USHL split between the Dubuque Fighting Saints and the Sioux City Musketeers, going to the finals with the Musketeers but losing the Clark Cup to the Tri-City Storm.

The right-shot blueliner played two seasons at each of the University of Maine and Merrimack College. He scored 16 goals and had 35 assists in 101 games between the two schools.

The Everblades will begin the defense of the organization’s back-to-back Kelly Cup Championships on Thursday, October 19 with a road matchup against the Orlando Solar Bears. The 2023-24 home opener is slated for Saturday, October 28 with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop against the Jacksonville Icemen at Hertz Arena.
