Everblades Agree To Terms With Rookie Mike Eskra

ESTERO, Fla. – Florida Everblades General Manager and Head Coach Brad Ralph, announced the team has agreed to terms with rookie defenseman Mike Eskra to a standard player contract for the 2023-24 season.

Eskra, 26, joins the Everblades after four seasons with the University of Regina. In 85 games with the Cougars, Eskra tallied 32 points – 6 goals and 26 assists. Eskra’s most complete season came in the 2021-2022 campaign. In 20 regular season games, he led the Cougars with 14 assists. Eskra also added a goal and an assist in two playoff losses to Mount Royal that cut the season short.

Before college, the Regina, Saskatchewan native played 192 regular season games across five seasons with the Weyburn Red Wings, tallying 26 goals and 96 assists – 122 points. In 28 playoff contests with the Red Wings, Eskra added four goals and 11 assists ­to his stat sheet.

The Everblades will begin the defense of the organization’s back-to-back Kelly Cup Championships on Thursday, October 19 with a road matchup against the Orlando Solar Bears. The 2023-24 home opener is slated for Saturday, October 28 with a 7:00 p.m. against the Jacksonville Icemen at Hertz Arena.
