Everblades Agree To Terms With Oliver Chau

ESTERO, Fla. – General Manager and Head Coach Brad Ralph announced the Florida Everblades have agreed to terms with forward Oliver Chau.

Chau, 26, signed with Florida last season as a rookie out of Quinnipiac University. The Oakville, Ontario native had a strong 2022-23 campaign, with 13 goals and 24 assists in 42 games. After missing the first three games of the playoffs, Chau returned and immediately became a key player in the Everblades’ Kelly Cup run, tallying seven goals and 10 assists in the postseason.  

Chau has also played 16 games of AHL hockey. After finishing at Quinnipiac, he played 10 games with the Tucson Roadrunners, getting four assists in 10 games. This past season, Chau earned a callup to the Everblades’ AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers – he scored his first AHL goal in his six games with Charlotte.

The left-shot forward played four seasons at UMass before finishing his collegiate days at Quinnipiac. Chau was a part of UMass’s 2021 squad that won the NCAA National Championship and the Hockey East Title.

Before college, Chau spent time with the AJHL’s Brooks Bandits, winning the AJHL championship in 2017.

The Everblades will begin the defense of the organization’s back-to-back Kelly Cup Championships on Thursday, October 19 with a road matchup against the Orlando Solar Bears. The 2023-24 home opener is slated for Saturday, October 28 with a 7:00 p.m. against the Jacksonville Icemen at Hertz Arena.
