North Charleston, S.C. – The Florida Everblades can advance to the second round with a Game Six win over the South Carolina Stingrays on Monday, May 1 at 7:05 p.m.
Cam Johnson pitched his second shutout of the postseason to lead Florida to a 4-0 win in Game Five, giving the Everblades a 3-2 series lead. He made 35 saves in the win, the same number as his shutout in Game One.
Blake Winiecki opened the scoring and added the empty net dagger to lead the offense. Joe Pendenza and Logan Lambdin also scored for Florida, with both getting their goals on the power play.
Winiecki, Lambdin, and Stefan Leblanc all put up multipoint efforts for the Everblades in the win.
Florida has scored first in four of the five games in the series so far, including all three of their wins. The Everblades also lead the special team’s battle: Florida is 5-for-20 on the man advantage while South Carolina is 4-for-25 when up a man.
Clay Stevenson made 13 saves for the Stingrays. South Carolina outshot Florida 35-17 in the match; this is the lowest shot total Florida has had in a game during the postseason.
Game Six will be broadcast on FLO Hockey and ESPN Southwest Florida starting at 6:55 p.m.
