Jacksonville, FL – The Florida Everblades begin the South Division finals against the Jacksonville Icemen Saturday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. 

Florida took down the South Carolina Stingrays in six games in the opening round, winning Games One, Three, Five, and Six. The Everblades are the only team in the second round that started the playoffs on the road. 

Jacksonville also won their series in six games, defeating the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in Games Two, Three, Five, and Six. Their most notable victory came in Game Two where the Icemen won early in double overtime off a goal from Brendan Harris. 

Cam Johnson led the way for Florida with two shutouts and a sparking 0.947 save percentage, third best in the ECHL. Joe Pendenza is tied for fourth in ECHL scoring with seven points through the opening round while Sean Josling is tied for the lead lead in goals with four. After spending most of the regular season in the basement on the power play rankings, Florida’s man advantage played a major role in their series victory and is third among teams in round one. 

Luke Lynch, Christopher Brown, Ara Nazarian, and Craig Martin are all tied for Jacksonville’s point lead with seven against Greenville. Martin is in that tie with Josling for the ECHL lead with goals while Nazarian impressed in Game Six with two goals and two assists in the 4-2 win. Charles Williams started the first five games in the series before Olof Lindbom entered in relief in Game Five, helped the Icemen grab a comeback victory, and then finished the series in Game Six. 

Both teams won six games in 12 meetings against one another in the regular season, but Florida only one once in Jacksonville. 

Game One will be broadcast on FLO Hockey and ESPN Southwest Florida starting at 6:50 p.m.
