ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades host the Jacksonville Icemen on Wednesday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m., the teams’ last meeting of the regular season. Wednesday’s matchup opens a three-game homestand that will serve as a final tuneup for the 2023 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs.
The Everblades (37-23-4-5, 83 points) currently sit in fourth place in the South Division, three points behind second-place Jacksonville (41-23-3-1, 86 points) and two points behind third-place Greenville (38-23-8-1, 85 points). On the season, the Blades are 6-3-1-1 against the Icemen and have won the last two matchups.
Florida and Jacksonville last met on April 5 and the Everblades came away with a 4-2 win. Four different Everblades found the net matchup including Sean Josling, Nathan Staios and Cam Darcy.
On Wednesday, the Everblades will try to avenge back-to-back losses at the hands of the first-place South Carolina Stingrays. Despite a 4-1 loss on Friday, the Blades were still able to clinch a playoff spot with the Atlanta Gladiators’ 4-3 loss to Jacksonville. The Everblades did pick up a key point on Saturday, despite falling 4-3 in a shootout. Josling netted two goals while Zach Uens was able to register one, as the Blades finished the season 7-2-0-1 against division-leading South Carolina.
With a spot in the 2023 Kelly Cup Playoffs clinched, single game tickets for the first two home games of the South Division Semifinals are on sale at the Fifth Third Bank Box Office at Hertz Arena, online HERE or by calling the Everblades office at 239-948-PUCK. Please note that exact dates, opponent and which games in the best-of-seven series will be played at Hertz Arena have yet to be determined.
