EVERBLADES LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK AGAINST STINGRAYS IN SATURDAY NIGHT BLACKOUT

ESTERO, Fla. – Following a win on Wednesday and tough loss on Friday, the Florida Everblades look to pick up another win against the South Carolina Stingrays Saturday night at Hertz Arena. The puck drops on the rubber game of the series at 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday’s battle against the Stingrays resulted in a 2-1 win for the Blades, highlighted by a Jake Smith game-winner with three minutes left to play. The win was huge for the Blades in snapping a four-game losing streak and continuing a 6-0 record against the Stingrays. That win pushed the Blades into second place in the conference just two points shy of first place in the South Division.

Friday night’s electric game featured a tough loss with a final score of 5-2. The Stingrays opened up scoring early from Kevin O’Neal and Ryan Scarfo, ending the first period with a 2-0 lead. The second period did not turn around for the Blades with three more goals added from Lawton Courtnall, Anthony Del Gaizo and Bear Hughes. South Carolina was able to score back-to-back goals 26 seconds apart twice on Friday night. In the final period, Jake Smith and Stefan Leblanc were able to find the net for the Blades. Smith’s goal makes it his third straight game with a goal.

As seen in previous matchups, the tension is high between these rivals with extremely close games with all six wins against South Carolina achieved by no more than two goals. The Blades sit in fourth place in the South Division, one game behind South Carolina and Greenville with Saturday’s game carrying weight for placement in the standings.
