BLADES BEGIN ROAD TRIP WITH FINAL MEETING AGAINST THE SOLAR BEARS

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Florida Everblades start a three-game road trip with their last game against the Orlando Solar Bears this season on Friday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m.

The Everblades (30-14-4-3, 61 points) sit three points back of the Jacksonville Icemen for first place in the South Division. Orlando (26-23-6-1) are six points out of the playoffs entering the match Friday night.

Orlando has won three straight games against the Everblades, most recently with a 3-2 shootout victory on February 11 at Hertz Arena. Defenseman Chris Harpur scored the winner in the 14th round of the shootout. On the season, the Solar Bears have a slight edge against the Blades through 13 matchups with seven wins. Florida sports a 6-4-2-1 record against Orlando this season.

The Everblades finished February with a 4-2 loss to the Kansas City Mavericks last Saturday. February is the first month this season where Florida lost more games than they won (4-5-1-1).

Orlando played last night and lost 3-0 at home against the Adirondack Thunder. It’s the second time the Solar Bears have been shut out this season.

Blake Winiecki is on a three-game point streak for Florida. Serron Noel was recalled to the Charlotte Checkers earlier this week, which makes him the seventh Everblades player to be called up to the AHL this year.

The Everblades will play three games in three days on this road trip, with the final two games being against the Savannah Ghost Pirates.

The game will be broadcast live on FLO Hockey and ESPN Southwest Florida, beginning at 6:50 p.m.
