EVERBLADES BACK HOME FOR THREE

ESTERO, Fla. – The first-place Florida Everblades are back at Hertz Arena to open a three-game homestand Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. for a key South Division matchup against the Jacksonville Icemen.

Florida (26-10-4-2, 58 points) holds a one-point lead over the South Carolina Stingrays (26-10-4-1, 57 points) and Jacksonville (28-4-1-0, 57 points) in the race for the ECHL South Division regular-season crown. Florida has 30 games to play.

The Everblades return home following a 0-1-1-0 road trip which saw them fall 3-1 in Jacksonville on Friday and 5-4 in overtime in Orlando on Saturday. Entering the homestand, the Everblades are riding a six-game winning streak at Hertz Arena, most recently picking up a three-game sweep of South Carolina January 25-28.

In the season series with the Icemen, the Everblades hold a 4-3-1-1 advantage through nine games, despite picking up just one point in the past four contests after jumping out to a 3-0-0-1 start in the annual series.

Jake Smith sports a team-best four-game point streak for the Blades, as he has a pair of goals and a pair of assists over those four contests including helpers in each of the last two games. Levko Koper scored in both games on the most recent road trip.

Fresh off a season-high 53-save performance Saturday in Orlando, Cam Johnson leads all ECHL goaltenders with 19 wins.

The homestand will continue with games against the Orlando Solar Bears Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
