ESTERO, Fla. –The Florida Everblades continue their home stand Friday, February 10 at 7:30 p.m. with the Orlando Solar Bears coming to Hertz Arena.
The Everblades (27-10-4-2, 60 points) have a three-point lead for first place in the South Dvivision. Orlando, meanwhile, sits in sixth place (21-19-5-1) in the division, seven points pack of the final playoff spot.
Florida is 6-3-2-0 versus the Solar Bears this season, though Orlando has won the two most recent meetings. Last Saturday, Orlando put up 58 shots on the Everblades in a 5-4 OT win at Amway Center. It was the first time since 2010 that Florida has allowed 50 or more shots in a game.
The Everblades, after losing two straight to start February, responded with a big 2-1 win over the Jacksonville Icemen Wednesday night. Blake Winiecki scored with 27 seconds left to break the tie and Cam Johnson got his league-leading 20th win of the season.
The Solar Bears have not played since their overtime win over the Everblades last Saturday. Orlando has points in four of their last five games leading in to Friday’s matchup, including two straight victories.
Jake Smith extended his point streak to five games on Wednesday with a goal in the second period. Tristan Langan and Shawn Szedlowski both had two goals against the Everblades last Saturday.
