GREENVILLE, S.C. — In the midst of a three-game winning streak, the Florida Everblades (20-6-5-0, 45 pts.) conclude a stretch of three games in three nights with the series finale against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (12-18-3-1, 28 pts.) on Saturday night at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Last Time OutFlorida's Blake Winiecki scored the only goal in the shootout and Jeremy Helvig stopped all three shooters he faced to give the 'Blades a 3-2 shootout win over Greenville on Friday night. Justin Auger and Matt Finn both tallied goals in regulation for Florida, while Helvig made 26 saves to earn his fifth straight win.  

BOX SCORE | RECAP Players to WatchMatt Finn (FLA) – After missing 17 games from early November to mid-December, Finn has been a key factor since returning to the lineup on Dec. 20. He had a three-point night on Dec. 22 in the 'Blades' 6-5 overtime win over Orlando and posted a power-play goal on Friday against Greenville. The Toronto, Ontario, native has six points (3g, 3a) in 10 games this year. 

Will Merchant (GRN) - The University of Maine product is fifth on Greenville in scoring with 17 points (7g, 10a) in 34 games. He tabbed his seventh goal of the season on Friday night, his first career shorthanded tally. Merchant, a native of Eagan, Minnesota, has registered at least 46 points in each of his first two ECHL seasons, spending both the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns with the Idaho Steelheads. 

Series historySaturday night is the sixth of 10 total meetings between Florida and Greenville this season and the fourth of five matchups at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The Everblades hold a 48-31-15 all-time record against Greenville, including a 5-0-0-0 mark against the Swamp Rabbits this season. Florida pitched its only shutout of the season against Greenville, a 3-0 win on Dec. 13 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. That was the only tilt between the two sides this season that was decided by more than two goals. 

Fire Away!The 'Blades have outshot their opponent in 14 of their last 16 games and have posted at least 40 shots on goal in three consecutive games. With this recent surplus of shots, Florida has moved up to fourth in the ECHL in shots on goal per game, averaging 33.9 shots per contest. The 'Blades have been outshot by their opponent in just seven games this year.  

Defensive ExcellenceFlorida is second in the league in both shots against and goals against per game, limiting opponents to an average of 27.0 shots and 2.55 goals per tilt. Florida has yielded three or fewer goals in all but seven of its 31 games this season and has allowed four or more goals in consecutive games just once this year. 

Extra, ExtraFlorida has needed overtime to decide three of its last four games, which included its first game decided by a shootout on Friday night against Greenville. After losing each of its first five overtime games, Florida has now earned victories in consecutive affairs that have required an extra session. The 'Blades went nearly 11 months between shootouts. Coincidentally, the last time Florida went to a shootout was against Greenville on Feb. 2, 2018, a 4-3 victory for the Swamp Rabbits. 

Power Play Proves ImportantFlorida scored on one of its four chances on the power play on Friday night, another time this season the Everblades' success on the power-play has helped translate to a victory. When the 'Blades have registered at least one power-play goal this year, they have compiled a record of 11-1-2-0. The season opener against Newfoundland on Oct. 12 was the 'Blades only loss in a game in which they scored on the man advantage. 

Next Up Florida starts a six-game homestand with a three-game set against the Atlanta Gladiators this coming weekend. That series gets underway with a 7:30 p.m. matchup on Wednesday at Hertz Arena. —
