Last Time OutAfter dropping their first two games last week, the Everblades responded with their two highest-scoring games of the season on back to back days to beat Atlanta 6-3 and 8-3 and earn a split of their four-game week. The eight-goal outburst on Sunday was the most goals scored by Florida in regulation since an 8-6 win over the Orlando Solar Bears on Dec. 3, 2016.

Norfolk scored three times in the third period to overcome a 3-2 deficit and earn a 5-3 win over the Atlanta Gladiators last Friday night in Atlanta. Domenic Alberga registered a hat trick for the Admirals, scoring two of his three goals in the third period to aid the comeback effort.

Players to WatchJoe Cox (FLA) – The alternate captain had seven points (3g, 4a) in the two-game set against Atlanta, including his third multi-goal game of the season on Sunday. Both of his two goals on Sunday came in a six-goal second period, including a power-play goal, the eventual game-winning tally. He has 14 points (7g, 7a) over his last eight games.

Domenic Alberga (NOR) - In his third season with Norfolk, Alberga leads the Admirals in scoring this season with 14 points (6g, 8a) in 14 games. He is coming off the best performance of his career after posting his first career hat trick last Friday in a career-high four-point night against Atlanta.

Key notes

  • Wednesday night is the third of the eight meetings this season between Florida and Norfolk and the first of three matchups at the Norfolk Scope. The Everblades hold an 11-2-2 record against the Admirals since they joined the ECHL in the 2015-16 season and went 5-0-1 against Norfolk last season, including a 2-0-1 mark at the Norfolk Scope.
  • Florida's six goals in the second period on Sunday against Atlanta were the most by an ECHL team in one period this season.
  • Success is the middle frame is nothing new for Florida this year. The ‘Blades are an ECHL-best +13 in goal differential in the second period this season. The next two closest teams are a +6 in the middle stanza (Fort Wayne, Kansas City).
  • Thanks to the power-play marker from Cox and another from Derek Sheppard, the Everblades matched their season-high with two power-play goals on Sunday. Florida has scored a pair of power-play goals in a game on three occasions and ranks third in the ECHL on the power play at 20.9 percent.
  • With his recent hot stretch, Cox is tied for 10th in the league in scoring (18 pts.) and is tied for third in the ECHL in plus-minus rating (+11).
  • Defenseman Jordon Southorn matched his career-high and season-high with three points (3a) on Sunday in Atlanta. Southorn is tied for seventh in the league in scoring among defensemen with 11 points.
  • Everblades goaltender Jeremy Helvig was regularly tested in the first period on Sunday against Atlanta, finishing the frame with 18 saves on 19 shots. That save total is a single-period high for an Everblades goaltender this season. He finished with a career-high 37 saves in the game, another season-high for a Florida goaltender.
  • Jamie Phillips, Wednesday's probable netminder for Florida, allowed more than two goals in a start for the first time on Saturday in Atlanta. He is still third in the ECHL in goals-against-average with a 2.01 mark.
  • Despite allowing three goals and a season-high 40 shots to Atlanta on Sunday, the Everblades still sit second in the ECHL in goals against and shots against per game. Florida has surrendered an average of just 2.43 goals per game and 27.6 shots per game this year.
  • In the two-game series with Norfolk in October, the Everblades suppressed the Admirals offense and yielded just two total goals and 50 total shots. Entering Wednesday, Norfolk is seventh in the league in shots per game (33.3) and 17th in goals per game (2.93).
  • After scoring the 'Blades fastest goal to start a period this season on Nov. 10, Cox notched Florida's fastest goal to begin a game with his goal 2:45 into the first on Saturday against Atlanta. Sheppard then established a new 'Blades season-best for fastest goal in a period with his goal only 18 seconds into the second period of the 6-3 triumph that same night. Cox's period-opening goal on Nov. 10 came 28 seconds into the second period of a 6-2 win over Jacksonville.

Next UpThe series with Norfolk takes a one-day hiatus for Thanksgiving before resuming on Friday night with a 7 p.m. matchup at the Norfolk Scope.
