NORFOLK, Va. — The Florida Everblades announced on Saturday that the Carolina Hurricanes have recalled defenseman Josh Wesley to the American Hockey League’s Charlotte Checkers.
Wesley, 22, is the second Everblades player to be recalled to Florida’s AHL affiliate this season and has played in 27 career games for the Checkers, including 17 last season.
A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Wesley has appeared in all 16 of Florida’s games this season and has registered five points on three goals and two assists. He has already surpassed his point output from last season in fewer games this year after tabbing four points in 21 games in the 2017-18 campaign for Florida.
Wesley is in his third full season of professional hockey and has suited up in 85 career games for the Everblades. He posted a career-high 29 points (9g, 20a) as a rookie with Florida in the 2016-17 season.
Wesley, who stands at 6 feet 3 inches and weighs 205 pounds, was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fourth round, 96th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft.
The Everblades finish off a season-high seven-game road trip on Saturday night with a 7 p.m. matchup against the Norfolk Admirals at the Norfolk Scope.
