Florida Everblades Weekly: Oct. 22, 2018

The Florida Everblades (2-2-0, 4 PTS) split their first home weekend of the season, dropping a 1-0 contest to the Norfolk Admirals on Friday at Hertz Arena before earning a convincing 6-1 win on Saturday night in the series finale.

The 'Blades finish the month of October this weekend with a home-and-home series against the Orlando Solar Bears.

WEEKEND RECAPSecond-year pro Steven Lorentz, who is currently under contract with the Carolina Hurricanes, stole the show on Saturday with the first five-point night by a ‘Blades skater since the 2016-17 season. Lorentz potted his second goal of the year in the second period and assisted on four other scores.

Joe Cox also had an impressive offensive showing on Saturday and recorded the first multi-goal game of the season for a Florida player. Cox also had an assist, giving him a three-point night.

Florida outshot Norfolk 32-24 on Friday night, including a 14-4 advantage in the third period, but Merrick Madsen stopped every shot to earn his first career shutout in his professional debut for the Admirals.
