ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced Monday that the team has agreed to terms with forward John McCarron for the 2018-19 season.
McCarron, 26, returns for his third season with the Everblades after leading the team in goals (29) and finishing third in scoring with a career high 63 points. In addition, McCarron posted a balanced 20 points (10g, 10a) in 21 postseason appearances with the ‘Blades this past spring.
During the 2016-17 season with Florida, McCarron registered 60 points (24g, 36a) in 59 games played while also being named to the 2017 ECHL All-Star team. On December 3, 2016, McCarron tied a club record scoring four goals in a game against the Orlando Solar Bears.
Prior to his time with the Everblades, the 6-3, 220-pound forward recorded 31 points (14g, 17a) and 68 penalty minutes in 51 appearances with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) during the 2015-16 season. McCarron helped guide the Nailers to a Kelly Cup Finals appearance that spring collecting an impressive 23 points (11g, 12a) with 42 penalty minutes in just 25 postseason games.
The Macomb, Michigan native has made 15 appearances in the American Hockey League (AHL) split between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (2015-16) and St. John’s IceCaps (2016-17).
McCarron becomes the fourth player to agree to terms with the Everblades for the 2018-19 season. The team has also inked forwards Joe Cox and Trevor Petersen, as well as defenseman Derek Sheppard.
