Everblades Announce Several Roster Moves

ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced Saturday the following roster transactions:

1) Defenseman Matt Mackenzie has been loaned to the Everblades from the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League (AHL).

2) Defenseman Gus Young has been loaned to the San Jose Barracuda (AHL).

3) Forward Mitchell Heard has been recalled by the Charlotte Checkers (AHL).

Mackenzie, 26, will join the Everblades for Saturday’s game against Orlando after appearing in 22 games with Springfield this season logging one assist.  Last season, the 6-2, 190-pound blueliner totaled ten points (4g, 6a) in 17 games played with the Everblades before earning an AHL contract with Springfield.

Young, 26, will return to San Jose where he posted 16 points in 68 games played during the 2015-16 season. Young earns the call-up after recording 22 points (3g, 19a) in 28 games played with the Everblades this season.

Heard, 25, earns a call-up to Charlotte after totaling 27 points (10g, 17a) along with 71 penalty minutes in 29 appearances with Florida this season. Heard is under an AHL contract with Charlotte this season.

Four Everblades players have earned AHL call-ups this week.  Earlier in the week, forward Dave Dziurzynski was loaned to Utica, while rookie forward Steven Lorentz was reassigned to Charlotte by the Carolina Hurricanes.  To view the Everblades updated ROSTER CLICK HERE

The Everblades return to Germain Arena tonight against the Orlando Solar Bears at 7:00 p.m. The first 3,000 fans will receive an Everblades Calendar courtesy of Bokamper’s!

Saturday’s game broadcast will be available online only.  Fans can listen to a free online stream of the game courtesy of 99.3 ESPN Radio by CLICKING HERE.  Fans may watch the game online at ECHL.TV

Wednesday,  January 3, vs. Orlando, 7:30 p.m.  $2 Wednesday!  Fans can enjoy $2 hot  dogs, beer and wine in the concourse!  College students receive a $ 5 ticket with valid college ID.

Friday,  January 12, vs. Jacksonville, 7:30 p.m. Faith & Family Night!  For every Friday night game this season, kids eat free in the Breakaway Sports Pub with the purchase of an adult entree!
