ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced Thursday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Joe Cox and defenseman Nelson Armstrong for the 2017-18 season.
Cox, 23, appeared in five games with the Everblades after concluding his senior season at Michigan State University in 2016-17. The 5-11, 173-pound forward recorded 14 points (7g, 7a) in 35 games with the Spartans. Cox captained the Spartans for two seasons, totaling 69 points (27g, 42a) during his four-year collegiate career (2013-2017). The Chelsea, Michigan native also totaled 60 points in two seasons with the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks 2011-2013.
Armstrong, 23, returns to the ‘Blades where he logged four assists in 12 appearances this past spring. The 6-0, 200-pound blueliner registered 29 points (5g, 24a) during his two seasons at the University of Prince Edward Island (2014-2016). The Peterborough, Ontario native played two seasons with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), posting 58 points (13g, 45a). Armstrong also played two seasons at St. Lawrence University from 2011-2013.
