Corey Syvret Returns for a Second Season with Everblades

ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Corey Syvret for the 2016-17 season.

Syvret, 27, returns for his second season with the Everblades after posting 28 points (7g, 21a) and a plus-5 rating in 70 games with the club last season.  Prior to joining Florida,  the 6-2, 200-pound blueliner totaled 52 points (9g, 43a) and a plus-38 rating in 105 appearances during his three seasons with the ECHL’s Alaska Aces  from 2012-2015.

“Corey is a high-caliber defenseman with a wealth of experience and knowledge,” said Ralph. “He brings confidence, poise and intelligence to our defensive unit. He is a proven winner and will be relied upon as a leader with our team.  We are very excited to have him back.”

Syvret (pronounced SIV-rhett) has logged an assist in 18 American Hockey League games in his career split between the Rochester Americans, Portland Pirates, and Toronto Marlies.  In addition, he has appeared in a total of 192 ECHL contests with Alaska, the Trenton Titans and Kalamazoo Wings

The Millgrove, Ontario native accumulated 93 career points in five seasons played in the Ontario Hockey League (2005-2010) with the London Knights and Guelph Storm. Syvret was selected by the Florida Panthers in the sixth-round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

----Opening Weekend is October 14 & 15  The Florida Everblades open up their 19thseason of hockey at home at Germain Arena on Friday, October 14 against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits beginning at 7:30 p.m. The two teams will meet again on Saturday, October 15 with a 7:00 p.m. start time.
