ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced Monday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Matt Berry for the 2016-17 season.
Berry, 23, joins the Everblades after registering 37 points (16g, 21a) with a plus-11 rating in 38 games played with the Utah Grizzles (ECHL) last season. Berry also logged eight points (4g, 4a) in ten postseason appearances with Utah last spring. The 5-10, 180-pound winger also posted four points (3g, 1a) in 15 games last season with the American Hockey League’s San Diego Gulls.
The Canton, Michigan native totaled a balanced 96 points (48g, 48a) during his four-year career at Michigan State University (2011-15). Following his senior campaign with the Spartans, Berry began his pro career appearing in five games for the Norfolk Admirals (AHL) in the spring of 2015.
"Matt is a high-end player with good skill," said Ralph. 'He competes hard and will be able to benefit us both offensively and on the power play."
Berry becomes the fourth player to agree to terms with the Everblades for the 2016-17 season. Florida has already added center Mike Aviani, as well as defensemen Logan Roe and Chase Golightly for the upcoming season.
