About Last Night’s Game:  Wheeling raced out to a 4-0 first period lead and never looked back. Andrew Ammon and John McCarron each scored twice in the game to propel the Nailers to a 6-3 win over the Everblades in Game 1.  Florida pulled within two in the second period, but goaltender Frankie Palazzese turned aside several quality scoring chances to prevent the ‘Blades from pulling any closer to secure the win for Wheeling.

About the Everblades:  Leading scorer Matt Willows did chip in two assists in last night’s loss, and currently leads the team in points in the postseason….While Florida’s power play heated up toward the end of the regular season, the ‘Blades were 0-for-7 with the man-advantage in Game 1….Anthony Peters will start in goal tonight for Florida.

About the Nailers:  Cody Wydo collected four points in last night’s big win.  Wydo is currently second in league scoring in the early postseason.   Defenseman Matthew Maione who was named the ECHL Defenseman of the Year on Wednesday, registered three points (1g, 2a) and a +4 rating last night.  Goaltender Frankie Palazzese is expected to get the nod in net once again for the Nailers.
