LOVELAND, CO -- Anthony Peters saved all 30 shots faced to lead the Florida Everblades to a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Eagles at the Budweiser Events Center Wednesday night.
Following a scoreless first period, the Everblades would begin to gain momentum in the second frame. Failing to convert a power-play early in the second period, the Eagles found themselves increasingly under pressure from the Everblades offense.
The breakthrough would come at the 8:35 mark of the second period when Carter Sandlak’s outlet pass found Ethan Werek. The young forward took advantage of his speed to gain a 2-on-1 opportunity. Carrying the puck into the attacking zone, Werek eluded a diving Eagles’ defender and centered the puck for Jon DiSalvatore who lifted it past Eagles goaltender Kris Lazaruk for the goal.
The Everblades would enter the third period up 1-0 but under fire from Colorado. The Eagles peppered goaltender Anthony Peters with shot-after-shot throughout the third period.
However, with each Colorado shot came a Peters save. The Everblades would finally get their chance to break at the 9:26 mark of the third period. Brought into the zone by the returning Kevin Lynch, the puck would fall to Gabriel Desjardins, who would hurl the puck over to the left wing side where Matt Willows would meet the puck and bury it for his sixth goal of the season.
Trailing 2-0 late in the game, Colorado would be forced to pull their goaltender. However, the man advantage would not help the Eagles as Corey Syvret would score to give the Blades the 3-0 win.
Peters earned his second shutout of the season, and third of his career stopping all 30 shots faced. Lazaruk takes the loss despite a solid outing, allowing two goals on 30 shots.
