'Blades Receive Four From AHL Camps

'Blades Receive Four From AHL Camps

ESTERO, FL -- Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced Tuesday that the team has received four players from the American Hockey League (AHL). The following is a listing of players that joined the Everblades on Tuesday:

Justin Agosta (D) – Charlotte CheckersJared Staal (F) – Charlotte CheckersBrant Harris (F) – Manitoba MooseMatt Stanisz (D) – Providence Bruins

Agosta, 24, enters his rookie season after posting 22 points (3g, 19a) in 39 games played during his senior season at Quinnipiac University (ECAC).  The 6-3, 205-pound blueliner totaled 45 points (9g, 36a) in three seasons at the University of New Hampshire from 2011-2014.  The East Meadows, New York native recently attended the Charlotte Checkers training camp.

Staal, 25, returns to the Everblades after registering 11 points (7g, 4a) in 63 games played with the Charlotte (AHL) last season.  The 6-4, 210-pound winger appeared in 33 games for the Everblades during the 2010-11 season posting 11 points (6g, 5a).   Staal has totaled 36 points in 232  career AHL contests in stints with Charlotte and San Antonio.  In 2013, Staal appeared in two games with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.  The Thunder Bay, Ontario native is a second-round draft selection of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Harris, 25, (pictured above) returns to Southwest Florida after an impressive rookie campaign with the Everblades in which he recorded 43 points (16g, 27a) in 57 games. In addition, Harris posted five points (2g, 3a) in 15 games during a late season call-up with  the Adirondack Flames of the AHL The 6-1, 185-pound forward was the recipient of the Everblades’ Rookie of the Year Award.  Harris agreed to terms with the Everblades for the 2015-16 season this summer, and recently attended Manitoba’s AHL training camp.

Stanisz, 25, joins the Everblades after posting 17 points (2g, 15a) in 21 games played during his senior campaign at Carleton University (OUAA) last season. The 6-1, 205-pond blueliner totaled 74 points (10g, 64a) during his four-year collegiate career with the Ravens.  Stanisz played one season with former Everblades forward Brandon MacLean at Carleton during in 2011-12. Prior to college, Stanisz registered 43 points (12g, 31a) in 61 games played with the Owen Sound Attack (OHL) during the 2010-11 season.   The Burlington, Ontario native also played four seasons with the OHL’s Barrie Colts posting 45 points from 2006-2010.

---Preseason Games This Weekend!  This weekend the Everblades will play host to the Orlando Solar Bears for a pair of preseason games at Germain Arena. The game will take place this Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m.

Special Offer:  All fans who stop in and eat at any Wendy's location in Lee, Charlotte, and Collier counties wearing their Everblades apparel, will receive two vouchers to either of this weekend's preseason games against Orlando played on Friday or Saturday!---Opening Weekend Presented by The Passion Foundation Set for Oct. 16 & 17!The Everblades open the 2015-16 season at Germain Arena on Friday, October 16 against the Atlanta Gladiators! The two teams will also meet on Saturday, October 17.

The opening weekend games will be part of a “Black Out” promotion and the Everblades will be wearing special black jerseys which will be auctioned off following the October 17 game. The proceeds of the auction will benefit The Passion Foundation.
