ESTERO, FL — Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Mark Nemec for the 2015-16 season.
Nemec 26, (pronounced nem-ECK), joins the Everblades after totaling 32 points (6g, 26a) in 63 games played last season with the Colorado Eagles (ECHL). In addition, the 6-4, 215-pound blueliner also logged an assist in two appearances with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
“Mark is a big, but mobile defenseman,” said Everblades Head Coach Greg Poss. “He moves the puck well, and played in the ECHL All-Star Game two seasons ago.”
Nemec registered 17 points (5g, 12a) with the Eagles during the 2013-14 season. He made his professional debut with the Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL) in 2013 posting an assist in six games.
The Rouses Point, New York native recorded 17 career points during his four-year career at the University of Maine from 2009-2013. While at Maine, Nemec was a teammate of Everblades defenseman Mike Cornell for four seasons.
Nemec becomes the second player to join the Everblades for the 2015-16 season. Last week, the team announced that forward Evan Bloodoff would once again return for another season in Southwest Florida.
