'Blades Claim Series in 1-0 Overtime Thriller

ESTERO, FL – Alex Aleardi scored the game-winning goal at 12:39 of overtime, while Daniel Altshuller stopped all 30 shots faced to propel the Florida Everblades to a 1-0 victory over the Orlando Solar Bears on Monday night at Germain Arena.   The Everblades win the series four games to two, and advance to second round of the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs which begin on Friday (May 1) at Germain Arena. Both the Everblades and Solar Bears exchanged shots and scoring chances throughout the entire course of the hockey game.

Orlando’s Garret Sparks and Florida’s Daniel Altshuller were stellar, and pieced together a goaltending duel that put both teams in a position to win the game.

After regulation wasn’t enough, the hard fought masterpiece at Germain Arena finally came to an end at 12:39 of the extra session.  Orlando turned over the puck along the end wall, and Nicolas Deschamps fielded the puck and centered a pass to a wide open Alex Aleardi high in the slot.  Aleardi blistered a slapshot past Sparks to seal the game 1-0, and secure the best-of-seven series for the Everblades four games to two.

Altshuller earned his first career shutout in his playoff debut stopping all 30 shots faced.   Sparks takes the loss in a solid outing allowing one goal 34 shots faced.
