Florida defeated Fort Wayne 3-2 on Wednesday to maintain second place in the East Division.  Kalamazoo sits in fourth in the North, and are winless in their last four road games. The Wings make their first trip to Germain Arena since the 2011-12 season.

About the Everblades:  It has been a busy couple of days on the transaction wire for the Everblades.  Defenseman Mike Little was loaned to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, while the Falcons returned defenseman Mike Cornell to the Everblades.  In addition, the Everblades acquired defenseman Steven Kaunisto from the Rapid City rush, while also agreeing to terms with forward Steven Whitney.  Kaunisto joins the ‘Blades with five assists on the season, and is coming off a career best 37-point campaign with the Denver Cutthroats (CHL) last season. Whitney won two national championships with Boston College in 2010 & 2012, and posted 23 points in 65 games played with Norfolk (AHL) last season. Both Kaunisto and Whitney are expected to be in the lineup tonight.  Goaltender Andy Iles will make his third consecutive start this evening.  Mitch Wahl had his nine-game point streak snapped in Wednesday’s game, but has recorded 15 points in the last ten games.

About the Wings: The Wings are led by Erik Kattelus’ 33 points.  Fans should keep an eye on veteran defenseman Sam Ftorek, who is close to moving up the K-Wings all-time list of assist leaders. Ftorek needs one more assist (187) to pass Kevin Evans (1985-91) for 8th place all-time in team history.  Forward Ray Kaunisto is the cousin of newly acquired Everblades defenseman Steven Kaunisto.
