ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Evan Bloodoff (pictured left) and defenseman Tyson Gimblett (pictured right) for the 2014-15 season.
Bloodoff, 23,(pronounced blued-off), rejoins the Everblades after totaling 38 points (24g,14a) in 70 games split between the Gwinnett Gladiators (29 pts in 55 games) and the Everblades. The 5-11, 205-pound forward was acquired by the ‘Blades on March 12. He recorded a goal in each of his first three games played with the Everblades, and posted nine points (7g, 2a) in 15 games.
“Evan played really well for us after we acquired him last spring,” said Everblades Head Coach Greg Poss. “Evan has God-given talent, and when he plays to his potential on a consistent basis he can become a high-end player”
Bloodoff tallied 20 goals and 18 assists in 52 games with Gwinnett during the 2012-13 season. Bloodoff has also appeared in 57 games with the AHL’s Portland Pirates (2011-2013) totaling eight points. The Nelson, British Colombia native was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the sixth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Gimblett, 29, returns after posting six points (1g, 5a) with 125 penalty minutes in 50 games played with the Everblades last season The 6-3, 212-pound defenseman registered nine points (5g, 4a) and 180 penalty minutes in 66 games split between the Everblades and the Bakersfield Condors during the 2013-14 season.
“Tyson is a true leader on our team, and sticks up for his teammates,” said Poss. “He is a versatile player who can play both forward and defense, and knows how to play his role.”
During the 2011-12 season, Gimblett registered 12 points (3g, 9a) and 153 penalty minutes with Bakersfield. During the same season, he added an assist and 62 penalty minutes in eight games played with the Augusta Riverhawks of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).
The Newtonville, Ontario played five seasons at the University of Prince Edward Island from 2006-2011. Gimblett amassed 16 points (1g, 15a), with 262 penalty minutes during his collegiate career with the Panthers From 2001-06, Gimblett totaled 20 career points (4g, 16a) in 152 games played in the Ontario Hockey League in stints with the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors, Owen Sound Attack, and Saginaw Spirit.
The Everblades now have 11 players who have agreed to terms for the 2013-14 season: Forwards Mitch Wahl, Chris Kushneriuk, Kyle Stroh, Alex Lavoie, Mike Cichy, Mike Silengo, Evan Bloodoff, and defensemen Mike Little, Jordan Henry, Tyson Gimblett and Kevin Hart.
