ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Mitch Wahl for the 2014-15 season.
Wahl, 24, will join the ‘Blades after posting 56 points (17g, 39a) with 160 penalty minutes in 65 games played with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL last season. In addition, Wahl was tops in the ECHL in power play points with 27. The 6-0, 205-pound center finished as the leading scorer for the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) during the 2012-13 season after posting 59 points (19g, 40a) and 115 penalty minutes.
“Mitch will be a top offensive player for us, who can also provide some leadership for our team,” said Everblades Head Coach Greg Poss. “If you look at his production the past couple of seasons, he has been one of the leading scorers of the teams he has played for.”
Wahl has registered 19 points in 56 games played in the American Hockey League in stints with Abbottsford, Hamilton, and Adirondack. Wahl amassed 223 career points during his four-year junior career with the Spokane Chiefs (WHL). He was a member of Spokane’s Memorial Cup Championship team in 2008.
The Seal Beach, California native was selected by the Calgary Flames in the second round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
