ESTERO, FL – Mac Carruth stopped all 20 shots faced to lead the Everblades to an impressive 4-0 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones Saturday evening night at Germain Arena.
The Everblades wasted little time getting on the scoreboard on Saturday, as A.J. Jenks lit the lamp at 1:56 of the opening frame. Stefan Della Rovere snapped a shot from the slot that hit off the back glass. The puck bounced right back in front to A.J. Jenks who directed the puck into the net for the goal. Jenks’ third goal in as many games lifted the Everblades to a 1-0 lead.
After some fireworks which involved a couple of fights, the Everblades connected again at 9:15 of the period. Bandon MacLean slid a pass across the ice that was finished up by Philip-Michael Devos who slipped a shot past goaltender Rob Madore to put the ‘Blades on top by two.
Early in the second, Aaron Bogosian placed a shot from the right wing circle that clipped off the pads of Madore. The rebound hopped right to Tyson Gimblett in the slot. Gimblett wristed the puck past Madore for his first goal of the season, and extend the Everblades lead to 3-0.
The Everblades continued to limit the Cyclones attack in the third period, and received quality goaltending from Mac Carruth who stopped all eight shots in the third period.
Florida tacked on one more goal at 14:31 of the final stanza, when Evan Bloodoff raced into the zone and circled behind Cyclones net and skated to the right wing circle. Bloodoff steered a pass to Jordan Henry who ripped a slapshot into the Cincinnati net to secure the 4-0 shutout win.
Carruth stopped all 20 shots faced in the game to earn his second shutout of the season. Madore takes the loss allowing four goals on 26 shots.
