'Blades Bolster Goaltending Unit with Andy Iles

ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with goaltender Andy Iles.

Iles (pronounced like aisles), 22, joins the Everblades after posting a 16-10-5 record, a 2.17 goals against average, and a .919 save percentage in 31 appearances during in his senior year this season at Cornell University. The 5-9, 180-pound netminder was recently named the ECAC Hockey Men’s Student Athlete of the Year.

The Ithaca, N.Y. native made 80 consecutive starts in net for the Big Red, marking the fifth longest streak in NCAA Division I history. Iles has rewritten the record books during his time at Cornell, now standing as the program's all-time leader in career saves with 2,988.

He finished his four-seasons at Cornell (2010-14) totaling a 58-42-15 career record. which includes nine shutouts, a 2.26 goals against average, and .a 917 save percentage. Iles posted a 10-4-0 record for the U.S. National Under-18 Team during the 2009-10 season.

Iles is expected to be available to play on Wednesday when the Eveblades play host to the Evansville IceMen at German Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The Everblades will also face the Cincinnati Cyclones this Friday (March 28) and Saturday (March 29).
