Estero, FL – As each team has taken one game so far this week, the 7:00pm Saturday finale of the Florida Everblades’ three-game home set against the Greenville Road Warriors will be a rubber match at Germain Arena.
Florida enters Saturday with momentum, having earned the home win 5-4 on Friday after erasing Greenville leads of 3-1 and 5-4 in the back half of the contest to force overtime, eventually winning in the shootout.
Brandon MacLean contributed two assists—including the primary on Mike Merrifield’s goal with 30 seconds left in regulation that forced overtime—in his return from a loan to the Rochester Americans of the AHL. The Blades had been 3-6-0-1 in his absence.
Greenville’s top line of Marc-Olivier Vallerand, Jordie Johnston and Michael St. Croix has been highly effective this series, posting four goals and 10 assists between Wednesday and Friday; the rest of the Warriors have 10 total points (5g, 5a) the past two games.
Points are critical to both sides Saturday as the Blades sit one point out of third place in the Eastern Conference behind Evansville while Greenville is tied with Wheeling for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.
It will be American Cancer Society “Light the Night” Saturday as the Blades celebrate cancer survivors and raise awareness throughout the game.
Tickets are now on sale at the Capital Bank Box Office, open Monday through Friday, 10:00am until 6:00pm.
Saturday’s pivotal rubber match will be broadcast live online at FloridaEverblades.com and on the Everblades’ app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, with a video webcast available through America ONE, the official broadband and mobile broadcaster of the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com.
