Estero, FL – The Florida Everblades released the design of their special Olympic-themed jerseys Thursday. They will be worn throughout the upcoming weekend as the Blades battle the Gwinnett Gladiators Friday and Saturday at Germain Arena.
Designed by kids at the Golisano Children’s Hospital, the uniforms feature the Everblades logo in a shiny gold—to represent the medals—over a blue background, with drawings by the children of Olympic events near the waist and flags of the world along the arms.
Following Saturday’s contest, the jerseys will be auctioned live with the proceeds going to the Lee Memorial Health System Foundation.
Friday also marks the Blades’ first-ever Paint the Ice Night.
Kids—and kids at heart—are invited to stick around after the game and head down to ice level, where they will be able to paint their own designs onto the ice, resulting in a special canvas that the Everblades will play the Gladiators on for Saturday’s contest.
It is the first time fans will be able to personally design a portion of the playing surface for a game at Germain Arena.
Both nights will also feature the Blades’ Family Fun Weekend and Carnival to benefit The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, which will run 4:00pm-7:00pm each night, featuring: bounce houses; face painting; carnival games; and live music. There will also be a European Car Show Saturday from 11:00am-7:00pm. Admission to the carnival is $20.00 per person, per day.
Tickets for the Olympic Celebration, Paint the Ice Night and Family Fun Weekend are on sale now at the Capital Bank Box Office, open 10:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.
