Greenville, SC – The Florida Everblades will open up 2014 with their first trip of the season to Bon Secours Wellness Arena to take on the red-hot Greenville Road Warriors with a 7:00pm puck drop Friday.

It will be a chance for the Blades to not only bounce back from a disappointing 4-3 road loss to Orlando Monday but also extract a measure of revenge over the Road Warriors, who outscored Florida 12-5 in a two game sweep at Germain Arena two weekends ago.

Midseason roster upheaval continues to reign for the Blades, who welcomed in goaltender and former first round NHL draft pick Riku Helenius from the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL before seeing team plus/minus leader Brandon MacLean loaned to the AHL’s Rochester Americans.

Greenville has also seen its share of call-ups this week, with defenseman Mike Marcou summoned to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack and forward—and former Everblade—Brayden Irwin loaned to Rochester.

Despite the turnover, Greenville has posted a 7-3-0-0 record in their last ten games to get to the .500 mark and pull within four points of Orlando for fourth place in the high-octane South Division.

Friday’s 2014 lid-lifter will be broadcast live online at FloridaEverblades.com and on the Everblades’ app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, with a video webcast available through America ONE, the official broadband and mobile broadcaster of the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 6:45pm.
