North Charleston, SC – The Florida Everblades announced Saturday that defenseman Beau Schmitz has been assigned to the club by the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
Schmitz, 22, has appeared in 23 games this year with the Checkers, amassing two goals and four assists with a plus-1 rating along the Charlotte blue line.
A native of Howell, Mich., Schmitz played 50 games for the Everblades during the 2012-13 campaign with eight assists and 31 penalty minutes.
On the ice, the Blades continue a three-game road trip Saturday at 7:05pm as they take on the South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum.
Saturday’s matchup of the top two squads in the South Division will be broadcast live online at FloridaEverblades.com and on the Everblades’ app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, with a video webcast available through America ONE, the official broadband and mobile broadcaster of the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 6:45pm.
