Estero, FL – The Florida Everblades return to Southwest Florida for just their fifth home weekend of 2013-14 as they open a two-game, pre-Christmas series with a 7:30pm Friday tilt against the Greenville Road Warriors.
Though the Blades and Warriors are slated to meet 10 times this season, it is just the first meeting between the two sides of the year. Last season, Greenville claimed the season series 7-4-0 over Florida.
Greenville enters the weekend with a revamped lineup, acquiring former Everblades forward Brayden Irwin in a trade with the Stockton Thunder last week. In winning two of their last three games, the Road Warriors have averaged four goals per contest.
The Blades return home after sweeping a four-game road trip through the Atlantic Division, a trip that netted Florida goalie Trevor Cann four wins, 108 saves and CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors. Forward Kellan Tochkin made a little team history on the trip, tying the franchise record for assists in a game with four during Saturday’s 5-4 shootout win at Wheeling.
It will be “Ugly Christmas Sweater Night” at Germain Arena Friday; all fans wearing an ugly Christmas sweater will get $5.00 off any Premium seat for the game.
