Estero, FL – The Florida Everblades will continue one of minor league hockey’s greatest traditions with IBERIABANK Teddy Bear Toss Night as part of their Saturday contest against the visiting Colorado Eagles.
Following the Blades’ first goal Saturday, fans are encouraged to toss stuffed animals onto the ice in celebration; all teddy bears and stuffed toys thrown onto the ice will then be collected and donated to children in need across Southwest Florida during the holiday season.
Florida will try and bounce back after falling to the Eagles Friday by a 4-1 final. Colorado goalie Marc Cheverie stopped 33 of 34 shots for the win as the Blades dropped their second straight decision. Cheverie has not taken a loss in regulation all year.
For Friday’s contest, the Blades had turned over multiple spots on the roster since the previous week due to AHL call-ups, with Mike Little (Norfolk), A.J. Jenks (Charlotte) and Kristers Gudlevskis (Syracuse) being replaced in the lineup by Tony DeHart, Will MacDonald, Joe Caveney and Matt Zenzola.
Teddy Bear Toss Night will be the Blades’ last home game before they head out on a four-game trip through the Atlantic Division.
Saturday’s contest will be broadcast live online at FloridaEverblades.com and on the Everblades’ app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, with a video webcast available through America ONE, the official broadband and mobile broadcaster of the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 6:45pm.
