Estero, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Thursday that center A.J. Jenks has signed a professional tryout contract with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
Jenks, 23, is currently Florida’s third-leading scorer with 16 points (7g, 9a) and tied for third in assists.
A native of Wolverine Lake, Mich., Jenks is a former draft pick of the Florida Panthers, who selected him 100th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has previously appeared in 39 games for the Checkers, compiling five goals and seven assists with Charlotte, an AHL affiliate of the Everblades.
The Everblades return home Friday to open a two-game set with the Colorado Eagles at Germain Arena with a 7:30pm interconference dustup.
Friday’s contest will be broadcast live online at FloridaEverblades.com and on the Everblades’ app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, with a video webcast available through America ONE, the official broadband and mobile broadcaster of the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 6:45pm.
